Let us show you how state-of-the-art technology combined with renowned experience can help you achieve the look you desire.

How are wrinkles formed ?

Most wrinkles form as a result of simultaneous changes in various parts of the skin (superficial and deep layer) as well as in the fat and the muscle layers beneath the skin. Collagen and elastin, which give strength and support to the skin, are often unable to keep up with the aging process – breaking down quicker than they are produced. This causes the skin to become thinner and less elastic. This skin loosening combined with strong muscle contractions (i.e. puckering, smiling, frowning) are what lead to persistent wrinkles and lines in the skin. Thanks to recent advances in science and technology, the Texas Institute of Dermatology is capable of treating stubborn and persistent wrinkles with methods that are proven to show improvement.

How can we treat wrinkles ?

There are various ways to reduce depth of your wrinkles or even make them disappear. Click on one of the following links to learn more :

Botox, Dysport or Xeomin: One approach is to relax the muscles that are attached to the skin, beneath the wrinkles thereby allowing the skin above the muscles to relax and unfold. Local injection of Botox, Dysport or Xeomin can relax the muscles causing the deep skin lines to disappear.
Fillers: Dermal fillers are very useful to treat volume loss. Injection of a filler in the dermis helps your aged skin to retain its elasticity and to some extent compensate for loss of collagen and fat mass. Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus and Juvederm XC are the preferred fillers. These fillers are FDA approved for dermal injection and provide instant improvement. This means you can come to the office for treatment and then go directly to your party!
Laser resurfacing (fractional laser, laser skin rejuvenation): Laser resurfacing induces new collagen formation deep in the dermis and also renews the superficial layer. Laser resurfacing is a great complementary approach to achieve a permanent result for your wrinkles. We offer the latest laser technology to rejuvenate your skin, for more details go to laser resurfacing.
Fat: Injection of fat is another approach for those who have lost a significant amount of fat from the fat layer beneath the skin such as the cheek area.
Are wrinkle creams effective in treating wrinkles ?
According to Dr. Ghohestani, no cream is effective in treating wrinkles. Application of a high strength tretinoin cream called Renova or a high concentration of Active Vitamin C (Active C, La Roche Posay) may improve certain signs of skin aging. We don’t have a magic cream that treats wrinkles as of yet, said Dr. Ghohestani. He recommends Active C or tretinoin cream. Most over the counter products contain much less Tretinoin or, in case of Vitamin C, is usually offered in a formulary that makes it less effective.
