Treatment of: Spider Veins and Leg Veins at TXID San Antonio Clinic

Treatment options: sclerotherapy, sclerolaser (AFT, PDL, Nd:YAG, KTP)

Enlarged veins can be seen on the face, legs and other parts of the body. Smaller veins are easily treated with laser usually in 1-3 sessions.

Treatment of spider veins and leg veins at TXID include: laser options and sclerotherapy. Texas Institute of Dermatology-San Antonio Clinic offers excellence in laser treatment for spider veins and leg veins. Sclerotherapy has been around since the 1930s and is used to treat unsightly spider veins and leg veins by injecting an irritant into the vein. This irritant causes the vein to eventually turn into scar tissue and fade from view. This is one of many injectable treatments available to treat varicose veins. This particular treatment can be used with laser treatments in order to catch spider veins that were resistant to the initial sclerotherapy treatment. Sclerotherapy is estimated to be effective in treating 50-80% of spider veins with each injection.

The Texas Institute of Dermatology is proud to offer several technologies that can treat spider veins and leg veins, spiders veins and facial telangiectasia depending on their depth and severity. These treatment options include Advanced Fluorescent Technology and Nd: YAG laser technology. These technologies use strong pulses of light into the vein causing them to collapse. A compression dressing and elastic stockings are recommended after the treatment.

What is the basic charge for spider vein treatment ?

Spider veins, a milder form of Varicose Veins, are veins that have become gnarled and enlarged over time. While any vein can become varicose, the veins in our legs and feet tend to be at higher risk because standing and walking increases the pressure in your veins. Usually spider veins are fairly painless and become a cosmetic issue. However, in some cases, the veins can become painful and may also indicate underlying circulatory issues. Occassionally, veins become inflamed (phlebitis).

The most widely used treatment for spider veins is Sclerotherapy, which has been around since the 1930s. This injectable irritant causes the vein to eventually turn into scar tissue and fade from view. Sclerotherapy is estimated to be effective on 50-80% of spider veins with each injection. Costs for this treatment are usually between $349-$450 for a single treatment covering a 10 cm x 5 cm area or you can buy a three-treatment package for $899 – $999.

As technology continues to grow, intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments are becoming more and more popular due to their speed and ease of treatment. Advanced Fluorescent Technology (AFT) for Rosacea and spider veins may help to treat enlarged veins that present on your cheeks or around the nose. This treatment, for a 10 cm x 5 cm area costs $399-$450 or a three-treatment package can be purchased for $999.

Another form of light treatment is the long-pulsed YAG laser for spider veins. This treatment is similar to AFT in that it sends strong pulses of light into the vein causing it to fade over time. The long-pulsed YAG laser can be used on the legs, hands, and even the face. This treatment is widely becoming the treatment of choice for more stubborn veins. The costs for long-pulsed YAG are $399 for a 10 cm x 5 cm area or $999 for a three-treatment package.
